Denzle Willey Was born June 13, 1919 in Wingo, KY to Opal (Hayden) Willey and Doc Willey. He died Feb. 23, 2008 at Baptist East Hosp. Memphis, TN at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Syble Tanner on October 12, 1947 in Portageville, MO, she survives of the home. Preceding him in death were his parents, Opal (Hayden) Willey & Doc Willey; 1 brother, Hazel Willey on 7/28/2000 and 1 sister Frances Willey. He was a Veteran of WWII; wounded on Pallalu Island he received the Purple Heart. He retired from the University of TN, Memphis, TN. Mr. Willey was a dedicated Christian, ordained as a deacon by the Ardmore Baptist Church, and he was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. He was a devoted husband, Daddy & Paw Paw who will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 60 years, Syble Willey of Memphis, TN; 1 daughter: Betty Jean (Larry) Bullinger of Memphis, TN; 1 brother: L.B.(Dixie) Willey of Bakersville, California; 1 sister: Ann Catherine (Ray) Moyers of Joplin, MO; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Marshall (Wendy Jo) Bullinger, Joseph Michael Bullinger. 2 great-grandsons: Gabriel Marcus and Gavin Marshall Bullinger and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday February 27, 2008 at DeLisle Funeral Chapel with Rev. Doyal Long officiating. Pallbearers were: Larry Bullinger, Jeremy Marshall Bullinger, Joseph Michael Bullinger, Ralph Sander, Jason Owen & Terri Siebert Tanner. Interment followed in Portageville Cemetery with full military honors. DeLisle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
