Mrs. Thelma M. Gooch died Thursday, August 28, 2014 peacefully at her home in Portageville with her family at her side. She was born November 16, 1921 at Great Ridge, MO to the late Clarence & Clara (Fields) Hayes. At her passing she was 92 years, 9 months & 12 days. She was first married to Fred Fisher who preceded her in death, she later married Vandiver Gooch, he to preceded her in death. Also preceding her death were her parents Clarence & Clara Hayes, her brothers, Clarence, Jim, Fred & James Hayes, her sisters, Margaret Totty, Velma Freeland, Alice Garrison, Miriam Waters & Jean Gooch. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Portageville, she was a cook for New Madrid County Jail for many years. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter & son-in-law Lynn & Tom Doering of Portageville, MO, Two sisters, Juanita Hayes & Athlyn Norris both of Ypsilanti, MI. Three grandchildren, Eric (Rachel)Oberg, Derek(Lanie)Oberg, Timothy Oberg, Four great-grandchildren, Madeline Oberg, Grayson Oberg, Max Oberg, Gilbert Oberg and a host of many other relatives and friends.
