Stuart Douglas Jantz

Stuart Douglas Jantz 70, of Poplar Bluff died suddenly on Monday December 16, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Stuart was born August 31, 1949, the first of five children to Harry and Margaret (Kane) Jantz in Baraboo, Wisconsin where he grew up on the family farm in the town of Fairfield.

Following graduation from Baraboo High School in 1967, Stuart attended college at UW-Black River before enlisting in the Army. After three years of service, including a tour of Vietnam. Stuart returned home to Baraboo and worked for several years in the private sector before returning to military service. Stuart was a highly decorated non- commissioned Army officer with a distinguished 26 year career. He retired with the rank of Sergeant Major, the highest enlisted rank in the Army. Stuart was warm-hearted and loving with a unique sense of humor enjoyed by all who knew and loved him. And to know Stu was to love him. His generous sprit made him always eager to help others.

Stuart was married to the love of his life, Susan Brands, for ten years. Together they enjoyed fishing, antiquing and dancing. They especially treasured sharing time with family including granddaughter Alexis, who had her paw paw's heart in the palm of her little six-year old hand, and grandson Sgt Sean Patrick Magee.

Stuart was predeceased by his father Harry and his brother Kevin. He is survived by his wife Susan , Son Kevin, step-children Jason and Leslie and grandchildren Sean Patrick and Alexis. He is further survived by his mother Margaret, siblings Carolynn (Chuck) Koberstein, Gail (Mark) Barnes and Susan ( Timothy) Schults, sister-in-law Barbara Jantz as well as other relatives and friends
