Sherman Day Kimes

W as born September 11, 1932 in Portageville, MO to Franklin Day Kimes and Effie Mae Hoggard Kimes. He died Thursday December 15, 2016 at his home in Portageville at the age of 84 years and 3 months and 4 days.

O n June 23, 1952 in Pocahontas AR, Mr. Kimes married Elaine Henson Kimes, who survives of the home in Portageville. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Berlin Germany from 1953-1955. When he returned home, he continued a life of service through his family's farm alongside his brother Bun on Kimes Brothers Farms from 1958 till 2008. His passion for farming continued on through the years for his love of collecting antique Oliver Tractors. Preceding him in death were his   parents, Effie Mae Hoggard Kimes and Franklin Day Kimes.

H e leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved wife of 64 years, Elaine R. (Henson) Kimes of the home in Portageville, MO, two sons, Ronald A. "Ronnie" (Renee) Kimes of Portageville, MO and  Steven D. (Debbie) Kimes of Collierville, TN; three brothers: Albert (Bun) Kimes and Jack (Nelda) Kimes, both of Portageville, MO; and Franklin Kimes of Atoka, TN; two sisters, Mary Jo (Willard) Barnett of Grandin, MO and  Shirley Henson of West Memphis, AR; five grandchildren: Amy (Tim) Sullenger of Hermitage, TN, Kristen (Ben) Kellams and  RonAllen (Heather) Kimes, both of Portageville, MO  Bradley & Austin Kimes of Collierville, TN and six great-grandchildren: Allison, Anna Beth,  Addie Sullenger, Olivia & Sophie Kellams & Jaxon Kimes and a host of many other friends, relatives and fellow farmers.
