Scottie Lee Vires , 63, of Portageville, Missouri, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Born on March 28, 1963, in Portageville, Missouri, Scottie was the son of the late Helen Havener Vires and James Alvin Vires.

Scottie was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Scottie Lee Vires, Jr.; and his sister, Theresa Birdwell.

For many years, Scottie worked for the City of Portageville, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and dependability. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of those who knew and worked alongside him.

Scottie never met a stranger. He always had a kind word to share, spoke positively about others, and brought light to those around him. Whether visiting with friends in person or connecting with people through social media, he had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. His friendliness, humor, and caring heart touched countless lives, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Scottie "Roo" Vires of Clarkton, Missouri; his daughters, Tiffany (Curtis) Gaskins of Portageville, Missouri, and Robin Vires of Portageville, Missouri; his brothers, J.J. Vires of Conran, Missouri, Andy Vires of Sikeston, Missouri, and Kenneth Vires of Portageville, Missouri; his sister, Debra Watkins of Essex, Missouri; and his five grandchildren, Brevin Vires, Elaiha Vires, Kaitlynn Murphy, Braelyn Vires, and Caden Murphy. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Scottie will be remembered for his warm spirit, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he encountered. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched through his generosity, laughter, and unwavering positivity.

Though he is gone from our sight, Scottie's memory will remain in the hearts of those who loved him. He leaves behind a lasting example of friendship, compassion, and love that will not be forgotten.
