Sandra Gayle Mudd Was born December 2, 1953 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Inelle Milton and Edwin Leroy Mobley, she died Tuesday February 26, 2013 at her home in Portageville, Mo at the age of 59 years, 2 months & 24 days. She was united in marriage to Rickey Gene Mudd on April 8, 1978 in Owensboro, KY, they resided in Hartford, Kentucky. They had two children Julie Ann in 1981 & Mark Richard in 1984. The family moved in 1986 to Missouri and lived at their residence for 27 years. She worked at Ohio County School from 1975 to 1986 as a sixth grade elementary teacher. In the fall of 1986 she was elected to be the first elementary principal for the Portageville School District. During her tenure at Portageville she wrote and administrated many grants. Mrs. Mudd was honored by the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals as the outstanding principal for 2005. She was also an adjunct professor for Williams Woods University in the education program. She was a reader for Pearson reading, scoring SAT test. She was recognized by the local school board as a community leader and educator. She has served on DAECO board and various projects to improve the community. She attended numerous national educational forums as an educational leader during her career. She retired from Portageville School District in December 2010. Member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville, MO and member of the United Methodist Church in Portageville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her father Edwin Leroy Mobley She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Inelle Milton Mobley of Owensboro, Ky, husband, Rickey Mudd of Portageville, Mo, one son, Mark Richard Mudd of Springfield, Mo, daughter, Julie Ann Winborn of Portageville, Mo, brother, Lynn Mobley of Owensboro, Ky Grandchildren, Alex Dean and Allison Anne Winborn and a host of many other relatives friends. She has a way of touching a child's life and that carries over to the family. Every child was special to her and she had endless energy when she saw a concern. Sandy has a contagious caring nature and anytone around her can't help but become a better person. She takes time to learn the many needs of the students and takes a personal interest in her staff. Because of her our students feel safe at school and her staff feels loved and appreciated. Because of her inspiring skills, school was a happy and welcoming place to be each day for young and not so young.
