Sammy Everett Lawson Jr lived 82 full years, passing away on April 8, 2026, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Born June 13, 1943, in Hayti, he grew up in a hardworking Southeast Missouri family led by his parents, Sammy Everett and Opal Fair Lawson.

He worked at the power plant, with Bruce Martin Construction, he also ran his own trucking service, and farmed the land he loved. He was the kind of man who felt most at home under an open sky, and he never met a job he wouldn't tackle.
More than anything, Sammy loved his family. He enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the many friends who were part of his life. his laughter, his stories, and his steady presence will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Suzanne; and his sisters, Sherry Hoe and Jamie Davis.
