Ruth Marie Via

Ruth Marie Via was born on July 1, 1957 in Hayti, MO. to the late Hazel Jones Via & John Via. She passed away on November 02, 2025 at her residence in Portageville, MO, at the age of 68 and 4 months.

Preceding her in death was her mother Hazel Jones on March 13, 1990 and Father John Via on July 10, 1993, also preceding her in death was her sister, Johnnie L. Via on November 15, 2019 and her cousin, Betty Qualls.

She was a teacher for Portageville School District, where she taught Math and Science and retired after 28 years, she was very close to her classmates and enjoyed being together with them just recently having their 50th reunion.

Ruthie as she was best known for loved her fur babies, she had so many over the last few years but loved them all.  She also had recently started fluid painting, where she did abstracts, some of them are on display. Ruthie had several good friends, some that she was close to were,  Patty Johnson, Cindy Fields, Ruby Sykes, Kathy Estes, Vickie Chrysler, Debbie Simmons, Jimmy Alsup, all the good people at the Nutrition Center. She is survived by one cousin, Raymond (Ruth Ann) Bruton of Point Pleasant but by many fellow teachers, friends and a whole community of children that she taught and loved throughout the years.
