Roberta Virginia Tanner was born July 29, 1916 in Portageville, Missouri to Allibe (Harrilson) Branch and Robert Branch. She died Friday, December 12, 2008 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 92 years, 4 months, and 14 days. She was united in marriage October 30, 1938 In Portageville, Missouri to Sibert Lee Tanner who preceded her in death on August 2, 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Allibe (Harrilson) Branch and Robert Branch; two infant daughters, Rita Kaye and Lita Faye Tanner; two sisters, Katherine Janette Branch and Macel (Branch) Kennedy; one brother, Robert J. Branch Jr. She was a member of the Leawood Baptist Church where she participated in the choir for over twenty five years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Her favorite pastimes included quilt-making and spending time with her family. She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Billy Lee Tanner and Terry Sibert Tanner both of Memphis, Tennessee. She leaves four grandchildren; Stephanie Tanner Phillips, Shelley Elizabeth Tanner, Sarah Kathryn Tanner, and Christian Tanner all of Memphis, Tennessee. Also, she leaves four great-grandchildren: William Tanner Phillips, Eyona Tanner, Cherish Tanner, and Kaylee Tanner. In addition she leaves many relatives and friends.
