G. Robert Williams was born July 3, 1929 in Nashville, TN to Thomas O. Williams, Sr. and Laura B. Reed. He died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, MO at the age of 85 years and 30 days. He was united in marriage August 18, 1954 to Annette Phillips. She survives of the home in Portageville. Preceding G. Robert Williams in death were his parents, Laura B. Reed & Thomas O. Williams, Sr. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a forward observer in the United States Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Arkansas State University with a degree in agriculture and a master's degree in secondary administration. He had post graduate work in counseling. He was the director of special programs for the New Madrid County R-1 School District and a member of the Methodist Church in Portageville, MO. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Annette Williams, of the home in Portageville, MO; a son, Gaston R. "Tony" Williams, Jr. of Durham, NC; a daughter, Melanie Vernier of The Woodlands, TX; a brother, Thomas O. Williams, Jr. of Marked Tree, AR; two grandchildren, Larry D. Vernier III and Brett Robert Vernier and a host of many other relatives and friends.
