Robert Edward McCrate

Born December 31, 1937 to Joseph E McCrate and Zelline Hobbs McCrate in Cape Girardeau Missouri. Robert graduated from the University of Dayton in 1959 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and as farmer in Southern Illinois for several years. He later worked as Shop Foreman for McCrate Equipment before founding Delta Data System, an accounting and inventory control software firm.

Bob, as he was affectionately known to friends and family, was a pioneer in digitizing commercial systems, creating software for farm equipment dealerships across the South. He was an avid reader, tinkerer and debater. Bob was quick to find the irony and humor in any situation. His signature half grin, an impish smile, showed the joy and amusement he found in being with those he loved.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother, John Charles McCrate Sr. and former wife, Jeanette Butler.

He is survived by wife Kathryn McCrate, daughter Balinda McCrate, grandchildren Dustin (Heather) Hayes and Nichole (David) Werner, great-grandchildren, Marie and Charles Hayes and Ezekiel Werner, brothers, Joseph G McCrate, Terry (Brenda) McCrate, Tom (Marilyn) McCrate and sisters, Martha (Ray) Bohimann and Ann McCrate and two stepdaughters, Cindy Morton and Beverly Morton

Burial in Portageville Cemetery
