Robert Joseph Eftink of Portageville, MO quietly passed away October 10, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 17, 1926 to John and Josephine (Glasstetter) Eftink in Portageville, MO. He attended St. Eustachius Catholic School and was a lifelong member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church. He joined the Merchant Marines at 19, and was involved in WWII. He returned to Portageville and married Matilda Rachel Horrell of Glennon, MO on February 26, 1949. They raised nine children and resided in Portageville the remainder of their life together. Robert took up farming with his father and became a well-known and respected member of the farm community. He was active in many committees and clubs, including the Knights of Columbus. His favorite clubs came to be the "Sunday Night Prayer Meeting" and the Dailey Dominos Group. "Mr. Robert" was a familiar face at McCrate/Baker's coffee table and was affectionately known as "Pa" to his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Mary Caroline Eftink, his brothers: Raymond Eftink of Portageville, Leo and Arthur Eftink of Oran, MO; and Fred Eftink of Quincy, IL and his sisters: Mary Richards of Horseshoe Lake, TX, Irene Brands of Portageville and Sr. Nora Eftink of St. Louis, MO. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Matilda; his brother, Albert Eftink of Chaffee, MO, his children: Bobby Eftink of the home; Maurice (Susan) Eftink of Oxford, MS; Gerard (Martie) Eftink of Kansas City, MO; Marion (Donna) Eftink of Houston, TX; Mary Beth (Roy) Corgan of Scott City, MO; Kathy (Sam) Walker of Memphis, TN; Pat (Aimee) Eftink of Lithia, FL; Joanie (Bud) DeLisle of Portageville, and Eric (Angela) Eftink of Memphis, TN. He also leaves 23 grandchildren: Jacob Eftink, Anna Kate (Patrick) Miller, J.J. Eftink, Rachel (B.J.) Carey, Jim (Lauren) Eftink, Lindsey (Kevin) Scheffer, Abby Eftink, Tyler Eftink, Chad (Emily) Corgan, Kyle Corgan, Candice Corgan, Amanda Walker, Allison Walker, Jenna Eftink, Nicholas Eftink, Jackson Eftink, Mallery (Jason) Campbell, Wayne DeLisle, Emily DeLisle, Landon DeLisle, Chelsea Eftink, Aaron Eftink, and Alexis Eftink and five great grandchildren: Kasten Campbell, Emilea and Bryson Miller, Jocelyn Carey and Olivia Scheffer. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Jacob Eftink, Chad Corgan, Jim Eftink, Kyle Corgan, Wayne DeLisle, J.J. Eftink, Tyler Eftink, Aaron Eftink, Nicholas Eftink, Landon DeLisle and Jackson Eftink. Honorary pallbearers will be his dear friends Andrew Eftink and Francis Hulshof.
