Robert Andrew Carter, Sr., affectionately known as Bobby to so many and simply "P" to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully at home, leaving behind a legacy of faith, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love for his family. He was a hardworking, faithful, and quick-witted man whose love for his family, generous heart, and unforgettable sense of humor leave behind countless memories to be treasured.

Born on January 3, 1941 to Rose and AC Carter, Bobby attended St Eustachius Catholic School and Marston High School, where he met the love of his life, Norma Jean Duff. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy before returning home to marry Norma on July 7, 1962. Together they spent more than 62 wonderful years building a life rooted in faith, family, and love. They raised one son, Robert Andrew Carter, Jr., who made his father incredibly proud.

Bobby was a faithful member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church. He believed in putting God first, loving his family well, and working hard. Through both his plumbing business and City Jewelry & Pawn, he built successful businesses and earned the respect of his community through his honesty, generosity, and willingness to help others.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Andrew Carter, Jr. and Mary Lucille Carter; his grandchildren, Britinni McDuff (Erin), Sydney Hagedorn (Blake), and Robert Allen Carter; his great-grandchildren, Claire McDuff, James McDuff, Collins Hagedorn, and Lucy Hagedorn; his sisters Rose Ward, Linda (David) Keith, and Gail Bonilla; along with countless extended family members and dear friends.

Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of 62 years, Norma Jean Carter; his father and mother, his brother, Allen Carter; and many family members and friends who welcomed him into eternal life.

To know Bobby was to know someone who never met a stranger. He loved talking with friends, and "shooting the breeze" with anyone who had a few minutes to spare. He had a way of making ordinary conversations memorable, often punctuated by one of his famous expressions. His signature phrase, "La-Dee-poopendah," could lighten any moment and still brings a smile to those who hear it today.

But above all else, Bobby's greatest joy was his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew him simply as "P," a name spoken with love and affection. He found joy in being present through attending ballgames and school events, celebrating birthdays and holidays, gathering around the table, and enjoying the everyday moments that often become life's sweetest memories. In the end, the greatest measure of his life wasn't found in his accomplishments, but in the family who will carry his love and memory forward.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Bobby and his family through this time, especially Hannah, Whitney, and Maria who helped care for Bobby and Norma. Your prayers, kindness, and friendship have been a tremendous blessing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Eustachius Catholic Church. The family also invites you to honor Bobby's memory in a way he would have loved: gather around the table with those you love, enjoy a good meal, tell your favorite Bobby stories, and laugh a little louder. And if someone smiles and says, "La-Dee-poopendah," you'll know P would have approved.
