Christine "Polly" Cook

(February 26, 1952- June 12, 2020)

Polly Cook, 68, of Portageville Missouri passed away at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson Tennessee on June 12, 2020 surrounded by family. She was born on February 26, 1952 to the late Wilma Christine Nanney and Cecil Cook of Portageville.

While she lived in many places over the years, Portageville remained home to her. She worked as a Fiscal Director at Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation for many years and cherished her time with coworkers, all of whom she considered friends.

Polly was a loving mother, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed crafts, cooking for her family, shopping, baseball, traveling, and hosting family gatherings. Time spent surrounded by family at her kitchen table was what she cherished most. While we all agree she could prepare any dish to perfection, biscuits and gravy was her specialty. Much like her mother, she was the heart of the family. Her door was always open, and her house was always full. She was a constant source of entertainment, laughter, and fun for everyone. When asked to describe Polly in one word, family and friends used the terms strong, compassionate, beautiful, caring, feisty, sweet, happy, and generous.

Polly leaves to cherish in her memory: her son, Brian Godair; her granddaughter, Hailey (Brady) Barron; seven siblings, DC (Brenda) Cook, JC (Mae) Cook, Claudie (Brenda) Cook, Michael (Marlenia) Cook, Terry (Debra) Cook, Cathy (James) Jarnagin, and Dennis (Kay) Cook. She is also blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Mark Anthony.

Her life was filled with energy, passion, and love. She can rest knowing that her love will be shared by all of those who knew her.

Services will be held on June 16, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the DeLisle Funeral home in Portageville Missouri with Rev. Gentry officiating

Visitation will start at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday June 16, 2020.
