Oscar August "Doc" Huck

It is with great sadness that the family of Oscar August Huck "Doc" announce his passing on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the John J Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff Missouri at the age of 97.

Preceding him in death were his parents Oscar John and Genevieve Braun Huck, the love of his life, his beloved wife of 67 years June Carroll Huck, one son, John Carroll Huck and daughter-in-law Mary Sue Blowers Huck.

Doc was a life long dedicated member of St Eustachius Catholic Church.  He was a doctor of Optometry in Portageville, Missouri until his retirement.  He was extremely proud of serving his country in War World II as a mastery gun sergeant in the South Pacific.

Other accomplishments included being President of Portageville Housing Authority, Kiwanis Officer and Businessman of the Year.  Doc took a lot of pride in coaching Park League Baseball and was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America.

In Doc's spare time he was a licensed taxidermist, a renowned cook who carried recipes in his wallet and a large tackle box full of spices. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.  He loved spending time at various hunting camps where he was always chief cook.  He was a charter member of the"Whitchawaydidego" hunting club.

Doc will be lovingly remembered by his descendants; James (Bettie) Huck of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Joseph (Ann) Huck of Poplar Bluff Missouri, Judy (Ray) McGovern of Ft Walton Beach, Florida, Jana (Jay) Hill of Kennesaw, Georgia and Junilla (Darl) Bivins of Portageville, Missouri. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
