Opal I. Buck Was born July 13, 1918 in Leachville, AR to Katie Meyers Hoskins and Joe Hoskins. She died Feb. 24, 2008 at Missouri Delta Hospital at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 11 days. She was united in marriage March 21, 1934 in Cardwell, MO to Marion Buck. He preceded her in death October 16, 1979. Also preceding her in death , were her parents, Katie Meyers & Joe Hoskins; one son, Markie Buck in April 1966; one brother, P.E. Hoskins; 4 sisters: Emma Calloway, Minnie Fletcher, Mae & Callie Rockwell; one daughter-in-law, Bertha Buck; 3 grandchildren: Dennis, Frank & Benjamin Buck. Mrs. Opal was a faithful member of the Refuge Worship Center in Marston, MO. She had spent 23 years as a Nurse's Aid for Head Start. She leaves to cherish her memories 7 sons: Glen (Sarah) Buck of Perryville, MO, Gene Buck of Braggadocio, MO, Dean (Stella) Buck of Dexter, MO, Jerry (Linda) Buck & John (Renda) Buck of Wappapello, MO, Donnie Buck of New Madrid, MO & Marion Buck of Portageville, MO; 2 daughters: Barbara (Mauri) Hays of Portageville, MO & Glenda (Robert) Schweizer of Sikeston, MO; 28 grandchildren, 38 great- grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at DeLisle Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charlie Thacker officiating. Pallbearers were: Greg Armstrong, Brad Armstrong, Nick Buck, William Lewis, Larry Carwile & Danny Ruark Interment followed in Mounds Park Cemetery with DeLisle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
