Obituary

Mildred Lois Killion, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2010, while surrounded by her family at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born on February 25, 1928 in Caruthersville, Missouri, and graduated from Wardell High School where she was a star player on the women's tennis and basketball teams. She then went on to attend Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, for two years and graduated from the University of Mississippi. On June 7, 1950, sixty years ago, she married George Taylor Killion. They made their home in Portageville, Missouri. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also served as president of PEO, Chapter GU, from 1960-1962. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother who also loved to hunt, fish, water ski and to be with her family. She was a renowned cook and known across the country for her hospitality. She is survived by her husband; two sisters, Robbie Schmitt of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Ann Smith of Paducah, Kentucky; three children: Linza Taylor Killion and his wife, Julie, of Sikeston, Missouri, George Matthew Killion and his wife, Jane, of Louisville, Kentucky, and April Killion and her husband, Jose Arellano of Dallas, Texas, and four grandchildren: Matthew Taylor Killion of Kansas City, Missouri, Elizabeth Anne Killion of Columbia, Missouri, Zachary Patrick Killion and Ryan Matthew Killion of Louisville, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her mother Mrs. Lois Pierce, her brother L.B. Buchanan, and her son John Aliston Killion.
