Mickie McWhirter

Michele Joy "Mickie" McWhirter, 55 of Lilbourn died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born July 23, 1962 in Pocahontas, Ark. to the late George P. and Agnes M. (Blair) Carrell. Because her father was a member of the U.S. Air Force, as a child she traveled the U.S. and lived in Okinawa, Japan. She was a 1980 graduate of Lilbourn High School, where she lettered in volleyball four years. She received her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Southeast Missouri State University in 1993. She had worked for the State of Missouri Children's Division since 1995 and also at Dave's Bestway. She had been a Girl Scout leader in Lilbourn for many years, a Lilbourn City Marshall and a New Madrid County Deputy Sheriff.

She was married to Johnny R. McWhirter, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2012.

Survivors include one daughter, Kristen McWhirter of the home; one son, Bradley Williams and wife, Kasey of Marston, MO, two step-sons, Kenneth Williams and family and Thomas Williams both of Grand Prairie, Texas; three sisters and their husbands, Cindy and Alvin Miller of Marston, Patti and Gary Bass of Hartville, MO, and Terri and Ric Faries of New Madrid; one granddaughter, Ella Williams; five nieces and one nephew, Carrie (Jeremy) McCormic of Pineville, La, Stacy Bass and family of Youngstown, Ohio, Robert and Heather Miller of West Plains, Samantha (Will) Crump of Mansfield, MO, Christina Bass of Hartville and Hannah Faries of New Madrid, six great-nieces and nephews; her best friend of over 40 years, Cheryl Hicks of Lilbourn and her children; and many, many cousins and other relatives and friends.
