Melissa Smith, 50, of Houston passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 26, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville, Missouri with Father David officiating the service. Arrangements were made by DeLisle Funeral Home.
Melissa was born in Memphis, Tennessee to John and Sydney Wilson on January 13, 1970. She graduated from Texas A&M with her bachelor's degree and received her master's degree from the University of Houston. She married Treven Smith on June 2, 2017 in paradise, otherwise known as, Maui, Hawaii. She worked as a tutor for Jane Cardwell Tutoring for ten years, as well as, a classroom teacher at St. Theresa and St. Ambrose for eight years. She was a natural born teacher who loved to educate children of all ages. She touched the hearts and minds of all students she worked with over the years. When Melissa was not working, she spent all of her free time talking to her husband and children. Her favorite job was being a mom to the four most important people in her life. She made sure that the people around her knew how much she loved them and never missed a chance to tell them so.
Melissa is preceded in death by grandparents: Ernest Gale Wilson, Mary Ann Wilson, J.P. White and Helen White, by aunts and uncles: Becky White, John Pat White and Ricky Wade, and by children: Marc and Wesley Bailliet.
Melissa is survived by her husband: Treven Smith; her four children: Janie (Chris) Shallow, Gracie Bailliet, Braden Bailliet, and Nathan Bailliet; parents: John and Sydney Wilson; sister: Carrieann (Tim) Westfall and brother: John Killion (Laura) Wilson Jr.; Nieces: Leighann and Kendall Westfall, Ellie and Madeline Wilson, who will all cherish her memory forever. Melissa enjoyed spending time with family members at all different occasions, big or small. She especially loved Christmas Eve dinners with family and Christmas Day celebrations at home and her parents' house. May we always see her in the rain, on the beach, and in the three birds that fly overhead throughout our days.
