Mother Maxine Brown was born November 4, 1944 in Oran, MO to the late Harvey Lee Weakley and the late John Henry Crite, both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, her twin sister Flora Jean Weakly, and Victoria Blacksure; two sons; Herbert Weakly and Herman Brown; two daughters; Linda Weakly and Brenda Weakly. One Thursday evening in 1973 she received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at Mother Florida Young House. She joined Portageville Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder J.W. Pulliam. House of Deliverance under the leadership of the following pastors: Elder Nathaniel Green, Sr.; Elder Don Luke Robinson; Elder O.C. Cooper and Bishop Charlie Green, Jr.; Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Charlie Green, Jr. and Elder Frank Wilderness. On this journey Mother Brown served in the church in the following capacities: Secretary, treasurer, Sunday School teacher, Choir member, Trustee Board Member, Mother's Board, and prayer warrior. She attended grade school in Oran and Sikeston and Carver school in Portageville. She was a housewife until she was employed at Siegal Roberts Automotives (Plastene) on June 9, 1982 where she started as a janitor and then transferred to racking until her retirement in December 2006. She was united in holy matrimony on July 8, 1965 to the love of her life Mr. Herbert Brown (Hub) who stayed by her side thru sickness and in health until death did they part. On January 16, 2014 God dispatched his heavenly angels to bring back the soul of devoted, Wife, Mother, Sister, Cousin, Aunt and Friend, at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 2 days. Cherishing her memories are: Her loving and devoted husband, Herbert Brown; four sons: James Brown, Charles Brown of Portageville, MO, Roderick Brown (Lakadra) of New Madrid, Harvey Brown (Karen) of Howardville, MO; three daughters; Elnora Taylor of Howardville, MO; Stephanie Hopkins (Antonio) of Cape Girardeau, MO; Starlett Brown of New Madrid, MO. One brother; Herman Lee Weakly (Annie Mae) of Kansas City, KS; four sisters; Pearlie Mae Adams (Alfred) of St, Louis, MO.' Mary Lee Young (George) of Portageville, MO, Lovie Faye Weakly of Kansas City, KS, Sue Mary Weakly (Lynn) of Kansas City, MO; Aunt Dorothy Brewer of Portageville, MO, 34 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
