Mattie Mae Moore Was born Oct. 25, 1929 in Caruthersville, MO to Arthur Adams and Ever Lenar Washington. She died Tuesday; January 8, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO at the age of 83. Mattie Mae Moore was raised by her mother and stepfather Ever Lenar and Oblee Washington in Portageville, MO where she spent most of her life until her health began to fail. Ms. Moore accepted the Lord at a young age and her most recent church home was New Bethel Church in Portageville, MO. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ever Lenar Washington & Arthur Adams, her stepfather Oblee Washington, one daughter, Evelyn Marie Mary Lee Saxton Hicks, one sister Eunice Griggs and her brother Willie B. Nelson. She leaves to cherish her memories three sons: James Samelton of Colorado Springs, CO, Hilyard Winters Jr. of Portageville, MO and Isom Winters of Cape Girardeau, MO, nine daughters: Willie Beatrice Watson of Cape Girardeau, MO, Angela Adams and Patricia Hamilton both of Houston, TX, Jan Saxton Holmes of Portageville, MO, Mattie Mae Thomas of St. Louis MO, and Rose Mary Smith, Sheila Winters, Ever Lenar Winters, and Virginia Ada Poindexter all of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Isom Nelson of Colorado Springs, CO and Sylverster Veasley of Chicago, IL; 54 grandchildren and a host of many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren friends, and relatives.
