Obituary

Matthew Gentry (Det) Hardin

Born on May 10, 1953, in Hayti, MO to the late Elnora Hardin Homes and James Mitchell. Matthew was the 8 th child of 10. Whereas 6 preceded him in death. Matthew (Det) grew up in Portageville, MO, until he moved away to Kansas City. Where he worked as welder. He loved karate and earned his first-degree black belt.

He later moved back to Portageville where he worked at Plastine Supply. Matthew was a great and caring person. Doing whatever he could for any-one in need. He loved keeping in shape. Punching that large punching bag of his, walking and whatever it took to stay in shape. He also loved listening to his record collections and recording songs. He couldn't dance but when the mood hit him. Clarence Carter and Johnny Taylor didn't have nothing on him. He would sing until he sometimes laughed at himself.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, May Helen Baldwin Hardin of the home, three sons; Lance Robertson,Tyrone Henderson, Markee Fountain, one stepson: Terry Baldwin, one daughter; Laigita Jennings, also three sisters: Mary Hardin(Willis), Sadie Hardin (Calvin) Moore all of Portageville MO, Debrise Hardin of Smyrna TN, six sisters and brothers preceded him in death: Scottie Nolen- Haynes, Bettye Nolen, Annette Nolen, Herbert Nolen Jr, Fambus Nolen, James Nolen and an endless number of  nieces, aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, in-laws and so many friends.
