Mary Alice Gill
Mary Alice Gill was born March 15, 1949, in Wardell, Missouri, to the late Alene Gill Fitzgerald
and Henry Brooks. She was 74 years,1 month, 12 days.
She was called home to Christ April 27th, 2023. at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau,
Missouri.
She was a 1967 Graduate of Portageville High School, in Portageville Missouri.
She accepted Christ at an early age. Mary Alice Gill was the longest active member of New
Salem Missionary Baptist Church. She served in roles as Superintendent, Secretary, Sunday
School Teacher of the junior class and later for the adult class.
She volunteered as a counselor and a cook at the SEMO Baptist Youth Camp. Mary Alice
worked at the Federal Compress and Warehouse Company in Portageville. She retired after 40
years of working there.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alene Gill Fitzgerald, her father, Henry Brooks, her
stepfather, George Fitzgerald Sr., 4 brothers, Emanuel Gill, John Wesley Fitzgerald, Alphonzo
Fitzgerald and Eddie Fitzgerald. 2 sisters, Jacklyn Fitzgerald and Clarissa Fitzgerald.
She leaves to cherish her memories, 2 daughters and 2 sons. Lisa A. Hamilton (Marvin) of Cape
Girardeau, Missouri and Lori A. Clark (Dominique) of St. Louis, Missouri. 2 Sons, Carl B. Gill
of Portageville, Missouri, and Mark A. Gill of Jefferson City, Missouri. 3 sisters, Luvenia
Fitzgerald and Joyce Ann Greene of Portageville, Missouri, Flora Fitzgerald of Lincoln
Nebraska. 4 brothers, Robert Fitzgerald of Sikeston, Missouri, George Fitzgerald Jr. (LaTanya)
of Los Angeles, California, Jerome Fitzgerald of California, Bobby Joe Fitzgerald of Kansas
City, Missouri. One maternal aunt, Martha Grady of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Arrangements Service for Saturday, May 6, 2023, at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church,
Portageville, Missouri. Memorial service will be at 12pm, visitation 10 and 11 am.
