MARTHA A. MULLER

OBITUARY

Martha was born Dec. 26, 1940 to Ruel T. and Veltie (Vandiver) Hanna in Portageville, MO.  She went home to be with her heavenly father on Nov. 1, 2023.  She passed away surrounded by her cherished family at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.   Martha was 82 years and 10 months old.

Martha was married to Harry E. Muller Jr. for 36 years.   Three children were born to this union:  Teresa (Kenny) Davis of Belton, MO, Jana (David) Morris of Portageville, MO, and Harry Muller III of Cape Girardeau, MO.  She is survived by her children and one grandchild, Valerie Davis.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ruel and Veltie Hanna and three brothers, Roy Gene Hanna, Tony Hanna, and Ray Edward Hanna.

Martha loved her family dearly.  She loved spending time with them and caring for them.  She prayed unceasingly for them, her friends, and her church family.  One of her favorite past times was flower gardening.  She loved to work in her yard.

Martha was a member of the First Church of God for 49 years.  She was passionate about serving the Lord and His church.  She was the first female to serve on the Board of Trustees.  She served on other committees as well but really enjoyed her teaching years.  She and best friend, Shirley Martin, taught 3 year olds for several years.  Later she went on to teach Jr. High Sunday School.  They did many extra-curricular service activities.  She loved having them into her home.  Women of the Church of God (WCG) was another way she was involved in the church.  She still attended these meetings until the last couple of months of her life.  She exemplified what a Christian should be everywhere she went.

She had a compassion for children.  She worked for DAEOC Head Start for 40+ years.  During that time she was a Social Worker who made sure children and their parents had the resources they needed to learn how to live a better life.

Martha and her sweet smile will be missed.  She was an inspiration to all who had the privilege to know her.
