Marsha's Obituary

Marsha Meatte Holiman, 78, of New Madrid, Missouri passed away on February 19, 2026 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Marsha was born on September 24, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Nell Hart and Joseph Meatte.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ruch Holiman, and her sons and daughter-in-law, Jay (Carrie) and Cleve Holiman.  She was a doting "Mimi" to Everton, Charleston, Gus, Bella, and Poppy. She is also survived by her sisters, Pamela Metzler, Mary Catherine DeLucia, and Patricia Meatte Edwards; brother Joseph (Tess) Meatte; Aunt Patricia Collorado Nye; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Marsha began working for the Circuit Clerk's office in 1986 and was elected as the Circuit Clerk of New Madrid County in 1999, serving four terms until her retirement in 2021. Always forward-thinking, Marsha was appointed by the Missouri Office of State Court Administrators to a committee to develop software for the judicial information system, a computerized program to track court records and cases, now known as Missouri Casenet.  In 2001, she was appointed to the Court Clerk Education Committee, where she was a standout contributor. In 2011, she was named Chair of the Committee and appointed to the Coordinating Commission for Judicial Education. Marsha served as faculty for the Workforce Management course of the Missouri Court Management Institute where she taught circuit clerks to navigate the judicial software program that she was instrumental in developing. Marsha also served as a respected member of the Missouri Circuit Clerk's Association, a legislative committee advocating for court clerks, serving on the MCCA board for four years, the last year as President.  She was sworn in at the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. as a Fellow of the National Center for State Courts. She was a familiar face in her local community, serving as a board member of the New Madrid Museum and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Of all Marsha's accomplishments, she was most proud of her role as mother to her two sons.
