MARGIE LOUISE TANNER RIDDICK Margie Louise Tanner Riddick was born on October 18, 1924, in Barnes Ridge, Missouri, to Henry Faye and Grace Tanner who predeceased her. Margie died peacefully on July 17, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. On February 3, 1943, she married Douglas Ray Riddick who survives of the home. Together they had two daughters, Sheila Louise Riddick Pikey who predeceased her and Derenda Raye Riddick Cannon (William D.) of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by son-in-law, Sam Pikey, grandchildren, J. B. Cannon, Judd Cannon (Mary), Deidre Cannon Sherman (Scott), Samuel "Pap" Pikey, Brent Pikey and John Pikey (Stacy), 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and many other family members. She was also predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Sydney Beth Pikey. As an ardent advocate for the homebound, Margie was responsible, along with six Bootheel county health department directors, for bringing SEMO Regional Home Health Agency into existence in 1973. Later it became Visiting Nurses' Association to partner with the national agency to better serve its clients. She also worked as the housing director at Lakeview Apartments in Portageville, MO. She was also a Democratic Committeewoman in Pemiscot County for many years. Active in her community throughout her life, Margie was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. As a member of every community betterment organization, she was deeply involved in the annual Soybean Festival - from helping with the parade to hosting the luncheon for the Soybean Festival Queen contest when it was still one of the qualifying contests for the Miss Missouri contest. Margie had a zest for life that was infectious. Everyone loved being around her, she was a doer, a goer and upbeat at all times. She was a "Can Do" woman. Most of all, Margie was a caregiver to all. To anyone in need, she was there to do whatever was needed. She is also fondly remembered by her friends and her daughters' friends as being in the middle of the gym when it was time to decorate it for a high school prom or hosting the best eighth grade dances at Joe's. She was an avid card player and loved dancing the night away with Doug at the Purple Crackle to the sounds of a big band.
