Obituary

Lidia O. Durden James was born January 4, 1944 in Portageville, Mo. to the late Love and Mae Fannie Ward Durden. She was called to rest on October 21, 2017 at her home in Portageville, Mo surrounded by love ones. She was one of twelve siblings.   Eight of her siblings preceded her in death: Johnnie Lee Durden, Booker T., Dorothy Lee, Willie B., Pearlie Mae, Ocie Lee Booker, Lavell and Pasty Newsom.

Lidia attended Central High School in Hayti, Mo. She professed a hope in Christ at an early and was a faithful member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Her greatest passion was cooking and serving food to the people of God. She was an employee at Plastine Supply Co for 30 plus years.

Lidia was joined in holy matrimony to Jessie Carl James on February 10, 1963. To this union were born four children: Jessie C. James Jr of Mesa, AZ, Jestin Earl James of Chandler, AZ, Ronda Rene Dixon of Dallas, GA, and Bernice L Woodard of Newport News, VA.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband for 54 years Jessie C James, two sons Jessie Carl and Jestin Earl, two daughters Ronda Rene (Lesley) Dixon, and Bernice L (Luther) Woodard; In-Laws: Jerlean Davis, Georgie James, JoAnn (Harvey) Wigfall, Gloristine Wade, MaryAnn James, and Tommy Newsom. Eight grandchildren Johniece Marie and Jada Renee Woodard, Jessie Samuel (BJ James), Jessica, Courtney, Jasmine, Jordan, Carmon James, and Little Shi-Shi. Two sister: Lovie Lee Sander of Milwaukee, WI and Marilyn Durden of Chicago, IL: One brother Roosevelt (Doris) Durden. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends along with a special devoted niece Sheila Durden unselfishly gave of time and supported her until the end.
