Karen Lynette Sullenger, 62, of Marston, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Born on January 20, 1964, in Chaffee, Missouri, she was a devoted spouse, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness shaped every life she touched.

Karen faced her final years with courage and grace despite the challenges of dementia and declining health. Even in difficult moments, her gentle spirit, humor, and warmth continued to shine through. Those who knew her will remember her compassion, her quiet strength, and the way she made others feel seen and valued.

Karen married Lynn Sullenger on June 12, 1982, and together they built a life grounded in loyalty, resilience, and deep affection. She was the proud mother of Jessica and Jamie, whom she loved fiercely and supported unconditionally. She especially cherished her grandchildren: JD Henry, Joseph Henry, Jacie Nowell, and Jack Henry.

Karen greatly loved working with one of her closest friends, Dottie (Steve) Babb, at Whitehouse Creations, where they nurtured a friendship that was truly unmatched. Prior to her time at Whitehouse, her love of children led her to Immaculate Conception School Pre‑K in New Madrid, where she formed numerous lifelong relationships with the many children and families she served.

One of her favorite pastimes was capturing the most gorgeous sunsets on the farm where she lived and sharing them on Facebook for all to enjoy. She also loved spending time with her beloved fur baby, Rascal, and relaxing at her cherished "Hide Away" on the Current River — a place where she found peace, comfort, and joy.

She loved antiques and crafting, and her home was filled with the stunning creations she made with her own hands — each piece reflecting her creativity, warmth, and eye for beauty.

Karen was preceded in death by her beloved parents, David and Ellen Lane, and by one cherished fur baby, Gorgi.

She is survived by her spouse, Lynn; her children, Jessica and Jamie; her siblings Kim (Mark) Hinton of Bloomfield, MO; Kathy (Rick) Williams of Wichita, KS; Krystal (Walter) Campbell of Canalou, MO; and Betsie, Christi Ashley; her treasured sister‑in‑law Dana Scott; and a long list of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A celebration of Karen's life will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Memory Care Unit at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, or to any organization supporting dementia care and family caregivers.

Karen's life was defined not by the illness she endured, but by the love she gave, the family she built, and the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed.
