Obituary for Julia Ruth Wigfall

Julia R. Wigfall, 87 of Portageville, MO, passed away November 27 at Ratliff Life Care Center. She was born November 29, 1931 in Tiptonville, TN to the late Joseph and Beatrice(Thompson) Higgs. Julia was a devoted contributor to various charitable and religious organizations. She was a lifelong housewife and an unofficial mother/aunt to many in the community - favorite saying, "I wish you were my….". She had a great love of God (reading the bible) and appreciation for nature.  Because of her artistic talent, she often created projects from various media. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by four children, Roy (Annie) of Portageville, MO, Janet and Donna R. Wigfall of Cape Girardeau, MO, Danny (Barbara) Wigfall of Kileen,TX, Russell (Mary) Wigfall, Savannah, GA, and stepdaughter Beatrice Watson of Kansas City,MO; two sisters, Bernice Wakefield of Los Angeles, CA and Martha Shadid of Topeka, KS; six grandchildren, a  host of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Wigfall Jr.,parents, three brothers, three sisters, two children. A visitation will be Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by a celebration ceremony and visit with family and friends from 3 - 5:30 at Delisle Funeral Home, 209 West Main St., Portageville, MO. A private burial will be held at a later date.
