John Henry Penrod Sr.

Born June 30, 1930 in Portageville, Missouri to Andy and Maggie (Moylan) Penrod, he passed away January 2, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 3 days.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Glenda Joyce (Powell) Penrod, his son, John Henry Penrod Jr. daughter-in-law, Doreen Penrod, and grandson, Joshua Penrod. He also leaves behind four brothers, Bob Penrod, Jim Penrod, Wayne Penrod and Tom Penrod.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Andy and Maggie Penrod, four brothers, Andy Penrod, Bill Penrod, Robert Penrod, Ernie Penrod and his sister, Betty Ann Brock.

As a member of the Assembly of God since 1958, John served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and Trustee.

John served his county as a marine in the Korean War and earned the Purple Heart. He was a self-employed barber for 37 years, taking pride in the fact that he always left his customers satisfied. He was a hard worker and had a passion for fishing and the patience of a fisherman. John is lovingly remembered by many friends and relatives.
