John Eddie Jennings affectionately known as "Chicken" was born on November 9, 1960 in Portageville, MO to the late Jimmy Frank Jennings and the late Ollie Jean Fisher- Jennings. He peacefully departed his life surrounded by family and loved ones on May 13, 2025 at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO at the age of 64 years, 6 months, and 3 days old.

John attended Portageville School District. He later joined the United States Army. John was a member of Temple of Gods Glory in Portageville under the leadership of Pastor Reginald Grant. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and 3 grandchildren. He enjoyed being around his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to music. He enjoyed playing basketball and Dominos.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ollie Jean Fisher-Jennings and his father Jimmy Frank Jennings. He preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents and Maternal grandparents. Also preceding him death is 2 sisters Georgia Ann Jennings, Loretta Jennings, and 3 brothers Robert Allen Jennings, Carl Lee Jennings, and Donnie Ray Jennings.

He lives to cherish his memories one daughter:Jelissa Gooden (Maya Thomas), 3 grandchildren: De'Marion, De'Myia, and De'Niya Thomas of Blytheville, AR. 3 sisters: Dorrie Ann Jennings of Lilbourn, MO, Arvelia & Daisy Jennings of Portageville, MO. 1 Brother: Edward Charles Jennings of Portageville, MO and host of many other relatives (uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins). He also had 3 bonus sons, Daniel, Dameon, and Jerrell Gooden.
