Joe E. Christian Was born June 21, 1921 in Tontitown, Arkansas to Mary Emma Kneuven Christian and Lennie Christian. He died Friday September 4, 2009 at MO Delta Medical Center, Sikeston, Mo at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 13 days. He was a member of the St. Eustacius Catholic church He was united in marriage to Edna Scherer on March 18, 1949, she preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 1989 then he married Virginia Morgan. Also preceding her in death, were his parents, Mary Emma Kneuven Christian & Lennie Christian and two sisters Rita Lusk and Helen Wedemier He was a life time member of Knights of Columbus, Served as mayor of Portageville from 1965 to 1967. Work 48 years at McCrate Equipment Company and was a Boy scout Leader and Served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945 veteran of WWII. He leaves to cherish his memories his Sons: Phillip (Crystal) Christian of Malden, Mo, David (Marsha) Christian of Portageville, Mo. Three Daughters; Kathy Christian of Tulsa, OK, Joann (Mike) Pyles of Salem, Mo, Karen (Steve) Fitzsimmons of Defiance, Mo. One Sister; Marie Mullins of Portageville, Mo 6 Grandchildren; Sara Hielold, Kevin Pyles, and Laura Pyles all of Salem MO. Dana Christian and Kristin & Megan Fitzsimmons of Defiance, Mo 1 Great Great Grandchild James Hiethold of Salem, MO, and a host many other relatives and friends.
