J.K. Swilley was born November 22, 1930 in Portageville, MO to Bryan and Lena Ethel (Frizzell) Swilley. He died Friday, April 4, 2014 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 13 days. He was united in marriage to Ann Rita Wathen December 28, 1959 in Kewanee, MO. She preceded him in death September 27, 2010. Also preceding him in death were his parents Bryan and Lena Ethel (Frizzell) Swilley and one brother Bryan M. Swilley. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Portageville, Active in his Sunday school class and served as 32nd degree Mason at the Point Pleasant-Totty Lodge. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Conran VFW Lodge. Mr. Swilley was a lifetime farmer. He leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter and son-in-law, Lorna & Van Turnage of Portageville, MO, a son and daughter-in-law John "Kib" & Lale Swilley of Portageville, MO, three brothers: Bryan L. "Bo" Swilley of Hornlake, MS, Don Swilley of Sikeston, MO and B.W. Swilley of Hazel, AR; one sister, Neva Norman of Fairhope, AL, 2 grandsons, John & Kent Swilley and a host of many other relatives and friends.
