Coach Jim McKay Was born August 14, 1942 in Bassett, AR to Anna May Cissell and Joe Elgar McKay . He died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 at his residence in Portageville, MO at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 8 days. He was united in marriage to Patricia (Dean) McKay on July 24, 1981 in Portageville, MO who survives of the home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anna May (Cissell) McKay & Joe Elgar McKay , 2 Sisters; Cleo Hatchett & Wilma Jean Proctor Coach Jim McKay came to Portageville in 1964 he served has head football coach, as middle school principal and taught P.E. along with numerous other duties. He was inducted into the Missouri High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2009. Coach McKay also served as a current Portageville School District Board Member. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Portageville. He loved football,deer hunting, fishing and spending time with family.
