Jerry D.L. Kestner

Jerry Doyle Lee Kestner went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 25 ^th of 2020 at his home in Miner. Jerry was born September 13, 1941, in Lilbourn Missouri to the late Alta Mooreland and John Kestner. Jerry enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17. During his nine years he completed his education and went on to receive infantry training int the officer's academy.

After leaving the army Jerry decided to attend training in law enforcement and took a job for two years with the Kings County Sheriffs office in Hanford California. Returning to his home state of Missouri Jerry continued in law enforcement accepting jobs in Cape Girardeau and East Prairie after spending 10 years in law enforcement Jerry decide to return to Military duty. He joined the United State Army receiving training as a medic serving in both Korea and Vietnam spending a total of 22 years serving his country. Jerry was a proud solider and enjoyed every opportunity to reminisce when running into another soldier to talk too. He also had a love for traveling. He became quite the RV"er in his years after the Military. He said he just loved the idea of being able to pick up and go when he wanted too. Jerry was a kind and caring soul. He loved his family and the Lord. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Jerry was preceded in death by both parents. two sisters. four brothers. His stepmother Willa Dean Kester and his loving little service dogs. Travis. Rowdy & Tyler.

He is survived by his two sisters: Sheila (John) Smith of Altamonte Springs Florida, Vada (Vem) Scott of Thompsonville, Michigan, one brother, Joe (Diana) Kestner of Orlando Florida, two sisters-in-law; Winnie Jo Kestner of Porterville California, Trova Kestner of Tucson Arizona and he also hand many loving niece, nephews and friends and his faithful compassionate little dog Henry.

A celebration of Jerrys life will be held Saturday August 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour before services at DeLisle Funeral Home Chapel in Portageville, MO
