Obituary

Jeremy Scott Ferguson was born in Hayti, MO on December 24, 1976 to James and Mary Ferguson of Marston, MO. He was a graduate of New Madrid County Central and attended Southeast Missouri State University. In 1999 Jeremy was diagnosed with brain cancer. Despite living with significant disabilities, Jeremy made the best of every challenge that came his way. He thumbed his nose at cancer by being a supporter of Relay For Life. In 2003 he left his wheelchair behind and walked the quarter mile Relay track. Jeremy was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting with his dad and brother, but he managed to shoot his prize buck the one year he hunted without them. He delighted in buying and using the latest tools, so much so that many Lowes employees knew him by name. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew. Jeremy was a member of Boekerton Baptist church and relished in his time as youth leader. He was last employed at Pemiscot Dunklin Electric Co-op, where he took joy in his work and appreciated his co-workers. He lived by the motto "Love God, love your neighbor, and work hard." In addition to his parents, Jeremy is survived by his wife, Christina Ferguson of Marston, MO, his maternal grandmother Ruth Swilley of Conran, MO, his paternal grandmother Lucille Ferguson of Marston, MO, one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jessica Ferguson of Dyersburg, TN, one sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Joey Higgerson of New Madrid, MO, three nieces and a nephew, Sydney and Sam Ferguson of Dyersburg, TN, and Andrew and Katy Jo Higgerson of New Madrid, MO. Preceding him is death are his maternal grandfather Cody Swilley, paternal grandfather James W. Ferguson, and niece, Brittany Higgerson. Jeremy was loved by many and leaves behind a host of extended family, friends and a community that will miss him dearly.
