James Alvin Vires Was born Feb. 13, 1940 in Hornersville, MO to Zettie Paggett Vires and John Roosevelt Vires. He died December 24, 2008 at his residence in Portageville, MO at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 11 days. He was united in marriage on Oct. 19, 1961 in New Madrid, MO to Helen Havener who survives. He was preceded in death by his father John Roosevelt Vires; 3 brothers: Jim, Jerry & Sonny Vires; 2 sisters: Joyce Hudgens & Ann Havener. He worked in construction for many years and did farm work after retiring. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Zettie Vires of Chicago, IL; 4 sons: Scottie Vires, J.J. (Tammy) Vires & Kenneth Vires all of Portageville & Andy (Christine) Vires of Marston; 2 daughters: Theresa (Benny) Birdwell of Portageville & Debra (Robert) Watkins of Essex, MO; 1 sister, Dorothy Winters of Bowling Green, KY; 3 brothers: Frank Vires of Morehouse, MO ,Tommy Vires of Chicago, IL & Joe Vires of California; 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host other relatives and friends.
