Obituary

James David Patton Sr. was born August 30, 1927 in Lamar, AR to Lucy Ross Patten and Walter Patten. He left to receive his heavenly robe and crown March 3, 2021 at his home in Portageville surrounded by his family.

He married the love of his life, Priscilla LaFerney, on May 19, 1947, who survives of the home. Mr. "JD" was an active member of the community and businessman. He was self-employed in heating, air and plumbing for over 50 years. He was also involved in the Little League program for several years, past 3 times president of the Kiwanis of MoArk chapter, Missouri State Lt. Governor of the Kiwani's, served as Portageville Mayor for 2 and a half terms, and Portageville Water Commissioner. He was a life long member of the JY Church of God, where he served as head deacon and oversaw the building of a new sanctuary and fellowship hall. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Corp and US Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lucy and Walter Patten, 4 brothers Odell, Pierce, Alfred and Burl; 6 sisters Opal, Hila, Minnie Alice, Ann, Laverne and Margaret.

He leaves to mourn his passing 3 children, Brenda Gardner, James (Judy) Patton, and Mark (Shirley) Patton all of Portageville; 5 grandchildren Channon (Kristopher) Skinner of Grapevine TX, David (Ashlie) Patton of Portageville, Jay (Brandi) of New Albany MS, Louis Mark (Libby) Patton of East Prairie, and Jonathan Patton of Portageville; 6 great grandchildren Anna Lang, Krysta Skinner, Casen and Calin Patton, and Amelia and Priscilla Patton; 1 brother Kenneth (Sharon) Patton of Portageville and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Family requests donations to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
