James David Long, Sr – a loving husband father, Papa and friend to many passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday December 29, 2022, in New Madrid, Missouri at the age of 75 years old following an extended illness.
David as he was known by many, was born on September 4, 1947 to the late Willie and Florence Haddock Long. He attended school until he was drafted by the Army in the 10 th grade and served in Panama City. Upon completion of being in the Army he moved back home with his family in Parma, MO where he later met the love of his life, his soulmate, Nancy Kay (Patterson), David and Nancy were united in marriage on November 24, 1969 and began their family. Their three children, Toshia (Long) Shaw, Christal (Long) Austin and James David Long Jr. completed their family. After being marred a few months, David began his career with "Noranda family" whom he continued to keep in touch with after retirement.
David and Nancy enjoyed their years together making memories with family, grandkids and many friends. David enjoyed working outside in their yard and garage and making sure his family and grandkids were at the top of his priority list. David and Nancy shared a love for camping that carried on with their grandkids and fur babies.
David is survived by his three children; Toshia (long) Shaw and husband Jerry of Parma, MO, Christal (Long) Austin and Fiancé, Tom Acord of New Madrid, MO and David Long Jr and wife Heather of Bernie, MO. David is also survived by his grandchildren; James David Long III, Caleb Seth Austin, Kayleigh Brooke Austin, Taylor Danielle Shaw, Madison Long Adams, Clara Stroud, Summer Bickford and one great granddaughter, August Wilkerson.
David is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kay Long, who was called home November 16, 2020.
