James Fred Cronan was born April 26, 1941 in Portageville, Missouri to Edna May Davis and Bob Kyle Cronan. He passed away on December 27, 2023 at The Chaffee Nursing Center at the age of  82 years, 7 months and 28 days.   James worked as a farm hand for many decades before retiring to work at home with his mother.  He was someone who looked out for everyone and touched the lives of those surrounding him.  Everyone referred to him as "Uncle" James as he was such a special person.   James attended Dry Bayou Baptist Church weekly until his relocation to assisted living in Scott County.  Afterwards he attended services at his new home whenever the opportunity presented itself.

His favorite hobbies included car rides, fishing, watching westerns, spending time with family, and playing Bingo and/or Rummy with residents at the retirement facility.  James also loved the occasional trip to Burgess Store, grabbing a milkshake or eating at Long John Silver's.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Bob Kyle Cronan and Edna May Cronan.  Two brothers, Walter Scott and Doyle Cronan.  Two sisters, Alice Ritchson and Joy Hoffmeister.

James leaves one brother, Alfred Scott of Alamo, TN plus a host of nieces, nephews, and many beloved family members and friends.
