Helen Louise Hoxworth, died on June 12, 2011 at Sterling House in Gainesville, Florida. Born in Pemiscot County, Missouri, to Arthur and Myrtie Clendinin, she spent most of her life in Portageville, Missouri where she married and raised her farming family in the "Bootheel" near the banks of the Mississippi River. During WWII she worked in a bandage factory near New Haven, Ct. More recently, she resided with her daughter, Martha Ann (Jerry) on Cowhouse Creek, Texas before moving to Gainesville, Florida in 2007. Helen is predeceased by her husband Lewis, a brother Charles, a sister Mary, and her son-in-law, Jerry Smith. She is survived by her sister, Rosalee Quick of Cape Girardeau, MO; her children, Audrey Mathenia (Dean) of Naples, FL, Martha Smith of Copperas Cove, TX, Darrell (Kathy) of Portageville, MO and Lisa Rohan (Bob) of Gainesville, FL and her stepson, Dick (Debbie) of St. Louis, MO; also, her grandchildren, Angela Hughes (Ben), David Smith, Mark Smith (Dana), Cory Hoxworth (Amy), Derek Hoxworth (Sarah), Shannon Ptacek and Shelby Ptacek and six great-grandchildren. In March, Helen celebrated her 90th birthday with her children, grandchildren and friends at Emeritus of Gainesville. She loved her daily walks, made many friends and treasured her bulletin board regularly updated with each new picture she received. She was proud of her family members' military service
