She died Sunday August 24, 2014 at St Francis Medical Center Cape Girardeau, MO at the age of 87 years, 6 months, 29 days. She was united in marriage Oct. 18, 1941 to James Manuel Mathenia he preceded her in death, June 1989. Also preceding her in death, were her parents, Vada Doster Brooks & Curt Higgs.brothers, Thomas Higgs, Hershall Higgs, Leon Doster, Kenny Doster, Infant sister, Verndale Higgs, 2 grandchildren, Jonathan Bradley Ledbetter & Lauren Smith. She enjoyed her flowers, working crossword puzzles and caring for many children in her lifetime.
