George Lindsey Gard, 79, of New Madrid, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, following a surgical procedure.

Born on July 11, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana, to his late parents, Russell and Ora (Dossett) Gard, George lived a life defined by his hard work and dedication to his family. He spent much of his professional life in leadership roles for various subsidiaries of SRG Global. His career took him from his hometown of Evansville to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, eventually bringing him to the company's facility in Portageville, Missouri, and settling him in New Madrid. After his tenure with SRG Global, George owned and operated a convenience store in New Madrid for 17 years, and later ran a restaurant for three years alongside his wife, Evelyn.

In his personal time, George loved to travel, spend time with his family, and was an avid golfer who found great joy on the course. He was a proud member of the SEMO Senior's Golf League, the New Madrid Country Club, and the New Madrid Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a deeply caring father, a loving husband, and an all-around great man whose steady presence leaves a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ora (Dossett) Gard; his daughter, Jill; his four brothers, Leland, Phillip, David, and Lowell; and his sister, Betty.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn; his daughter, Jane Gard of Evansville, Indiana; his two sons, Robert Blankenship of Sikeston, Missouri, and Chad Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio; his two grandchildren, David Blankenship and Emma Blankenship; and his two sisters, Alta Gartner and Linda Jackson of Evansville."

In accordance with George's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. He will be cremated, and the family will host a small, private gathering to honor his memory at a later date.
