Gary Glenn Branum was born June 8, 1946, in Kennett, MO, to Juanita (Pepple) Branum and Thomas E. Branum. He went to be with his Lord on Wednesday April 7, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO, at the age of 63 years, 9 months, and 29 days. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rebecca Goodman, in Kennett, MO on Feb. 12, 1972, and from this union, one daughter, Elizabeth Branum was born. Preceding him in death were his parents, Juanita (Pepple) Branum & Thomas E. Branum; brothers; Tommy G. Branum & Jimmy Dale Branum; and his twin sister Joy Lynn Wrenfrow. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller from 1965 to 1969. Gary led a full and active life. He served as a Deacon of New Madrid Baptist Church, past member of the State Board of Directors of Missouri Farm Bureau, past County President & Vice President of New Madrid County Farm Bureau, State Farm Bureau Rice Committee Chairman, past President of Great River Soy-Oil Coop, past Vice President of St. John's Bayou Basin Drainage District, board member of the SEMO Water District, member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 7183, member of the American Legion Post 595, active in New Madrid County Salvation Army, member of the National Rifle Association, New Madrid Chamber of Commerce, University of Missouri Delta Center Advisory Board, member of Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council, member of Governor Advisory for Rice Council, past member of Governor's Agricultural Advisory Board, the 1992 New Madrid County Farm Family of the Year, and a member of the Bootheel Counseling Services Board. He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife; Rebecca Branum of New Madrid, Mo; daughter; Elizabeth Branum of New Madrid, Mo; mother-in-law; Goldia Goodman of New Madrid Mo; step-mother; Betty Branum of Kennett Mo; two step-sisters, six nieces, two nephews, and a host of many other relatives and friends.
