Garland Butler Was born July 23, 1930 in Wynne, Arkansas to Dora Pittman Butler & Rev. Raymond Butler. He died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Portageville Nursing Center at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 8 days. He was united in marriage to Bertie Young Butler on May 20, 1956 in Kennett, Mo, she preceded him in death on June 29, 2005 also preceding him was his parents, Rev. Raymond & Dora Butler, his brother, Bobby Butler, and sisters, Pauline Hardin, Bessie Browning and Mary Baker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville, Mo where he served as a Deacon and was in the Church Choir. For many years he was the manager at Portageville Food Rite until retirement. He was a navy veteran serving in the Korean War. Past member of the Kiwanis club He leaves to cherish his memories, sons & daughers-in-law, Joe & Stacy Butler of Larkspur, Co, Lynn & Heather Butler of Bartlett, Tn. His daughters & sons-in-law, Jody & Gene Kelley, Judy & Chad Swilley all of Portageville, Mo. Brothers; Charles Butler, Jimmy Butler both of Arkansas, Alton Butler of Florida, Sisters; Viola Bruce and Martha Beal also from Arkansas. seven grandchildren, Lindsey Butler, Meredith Butler, Matthew Butler, Andrew Butler, Madison Swilley, Justin Swilley, Ashlyn Swilley and a host many other relatives and friends.
