Father Byron Huntley Edwards Was born July 10, 1925 in Portageville, MO to Kitty Lee (Adams) Edwards and Stanley F. Edwards. He died Jan. 18, 2010 at Savannah, TN at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kitty Lee (Adams) & Stanley F. Edwards & one brother, Hal Edwards. Father Byron was a 1943 graduate of Portageville High School, he served in the U.S.Navy during WWII , he then attended Vanderbilt University, Graduated at St. Louis College of Pharmacy, he then returned to Portageville and owned & operated Edwards Pharmacy until 1984 he entered the seminary , Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, WI, Father Byron was ordained Dec. 19, 1987 by Bishop John J. Leibrecht, D.D., PhD for the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau. Parishes where Father Byron served include Sacred Heart Parish in Caruthersville, SS. Peter & Paul Parish in Pulaskifield, MO St. Edward Parish in Cassville, MO and St. Francis Xavier Parish in Sikeston, MO. He retired due to health reasons in 1993 and resided in Morris Chapel, TN until his death. He was survived by his Niece, Cindy (Edwards) Chenault of Gulfport, Ms, Nephews, James Allen Edwards of Belton , TX & Hal Edwards II of Melbourne Fla. Sister-in-law; Donna (Edwards) Gullett of Cottonport, LA And numerious great nieces, nephews, cousins and a host many other relatives and friends.
