Obituary

Emily Faye Morefield died on April 16, 2026. She was born on July 25, 1941 to the late William and Katie Jones in Portageville, MO. Emily graduated from Charles G. Ross High School in 1959 and attended the School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO to pursue an administrative degree, She proudly "boasted" of her ability to type well over 100 words per minute without error! While visiting a friend in St. Louis over a school break, she met Harold Morefield, also of Portageville. They married 2 weeks later and immediately settled in St. Louis, MO,They were together for almost 42 years until Harold's death in 2002. Emily remained in the family home in St. Ann, MO until December, 2025. She lived her final months at Caregivers Inn in Dardenne, MO where she received loving care from the staff until her death.

Emily loved traveling the country and camping with Harold, her sons and the grandkids for over 30 years. Her passions were sewing, embroidery, and making/collecting dolls. She also enjoyed the role of family historian, collecting old family photos and stories. She was an early subscriber to ancestry.com where she loved to research the origins of the Jones and Morefield families until early signs of dementia set in a few years ago. Any visit to Emily's home included a personal tour of every photo on the walls and related stories that came to mind.

She was preceded in death by husband Harold along with sisters Ellameda Slavings, Wilma White, Cora Gremard and Dorothy Taylor.

Surviving are Emily's three sons and spouses; Tim & Angie Morefield, Tom & Kathy Morefield, and Tony & Tracey Morefield. Grandchildren (great grandchildren) include David & Ashley Morefield (Oliver & Grace), Sarah & Tyler Wolters (Jack), Matthew & Ben Tanzer, Kate Morefield (Blake, Ryker & Jaxson), Ellameda & Casey Wallace (Michael & Connor) and Lucas Morefield.
