Edward "Gene" Eugene Ellis Was born February 21, 1925 in Portageville, MO to the late Gertrude Hathorn Ellis and Ethel L. Ellis. He died September 15 2008 at his Home at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 22 days. Preceding him in death were 11 brothers & Sisters: Joe, Raymond, Aubrey, Leon, Carl, Louis, George, & James; Adaline Bernath, Pearl and Gertrude Ellis. He was united in marriage on September 5, 1958 in Portageville, MO to Betty Sue Tanner. He served in the Army during WWII, and was owner/operator of Ellis Builders Supply of Portageville. He was a member of the St Eustachius Catholic Church. He leaves to cherish his memories 3 daughters: Angela Toton of Portageville, MO, Susan Chambers of Atoka, TN & Jena Woodall of Arlington, TN; 1 sister, Ruth Sprague of Detroit, MI; 7 grandchildren: Bridgett Barnett, Chelsea Toton, Ellis Chambers, Sydney Chambers, Cassidy Woodall, & Grant Woodall; 1 great-grandchild, Jacob Harris and a host of other relatives and friends.
