Obituary

E dd "Dwight" Vaughn, 82, passed away on September 5, 2020 at his childhood home in Sikeston. Born July 11, 1938 in Sikeston to the late Ruth Blackshare Vaughn and Squire Spence Vaughn, Dwight was a jack-of-all-trades. Following his father's footsteps, he began farming at a young age. He also assumed many additional roles over the years including truck-driver, grain-buyer, dirt-mover, auctioneer, and expert fabricator, among others. But perhaps his favorite was that of an entertainer—a role that came easy to the youngest of many siblings.

O n December 26, 1959, he married the late Mary Ann Taylor of Lilbourn. Dwight's entertaining personality was complementary to his wife's, and the couple shared 58 lively years together. Dwight enjoyed tinkering in his shop, drinking hot coffee, and making daily trips to his "usual spots" to catch up with friends. He was also an avid lover of candy and ice cream and enjoyed baking for family and close friends.

H e is survived by one sister, Mary Ruth Ferraro of Prairie Village, Kansas; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dwight David and Lisa Vaughn, Dana Taylor Vaughn and Daniel Lynn and Kristi Vaughn of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Spence (Hillary) Vaughn, Alexi Vaughn and Colby Vaughn of Sikeston and Addie (Alex) Mayfield of Starkville, Miss.; and two great-grandchildren, Ginnie Vaughn Martin of Sikeston and Briggs Mayfield of Starkville.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Sikeston. Memorial service to immediately follow.
