Dorotha M. "Dot" Scobey

W as born October 10, 1928 in Marston, MO to Herman E. Washburn and Dixie (Latimer) Washburn. She passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at New Madrid Living Center in New Madrid, MO surrounded by her loving family.

S he was united in marriage August 18, 1948 to William A. "Dub" Scobey in Osceola, Arkansas, he preceded her in death December 29, 2006, also preceding her in death were her parents, Dixie (Latimer) Washburn and Herman E. Washburn, her brother Lowell Washburn, one great- granddaughter, Lindsey Jane McKay and one granddaughter-in-law Lisa McKay She was a graduated of Arkansas State University with her major in English and Minor in Art. She taught school for 33 years in Marston, Portageville, Lilbourn, Kewanee and New Madrid, teaching grades first through fifth.  She was of Methodist faith and attended First United Methodist Church in New Madrid. She was an avid golfer and managed New Madrid Country Club for few years.  She loved sewing, gardening, painting, she adored spending time with family and friends, she leaves many beloved students all across New Madrid County.

S he is survived and will be forever remembered by her d aughter and son-in-law,  Karen and Ken Chapman of New Madrid, MO, her son, Craig Scobey of Sikeston, MO and  daughter-in-law, Paula Scobey of New Madrid, MO, 5 Grandchildren, Tommy McKay, Cory McKay, Kevin McKay, Billy Paul Scobey, Christopher Scobey, 5 Great-Grandchildren, Erin Casey Mikel, Garrett Thomas McKay, Colton Jacob McKay, Kristina Scobey, Landyn Scobey,  1 Great-Great Grandchild, McKenzie Mikel and a host of many relatives and friends.
